Issues

Strong Public Schools. Food Security. Living Wages. Community Justice. That’s the Guilford we’ll build together.

Food Security & Community Health

When a child is too embarrassed to eat because of unpaid school lunch debt, that is not just a family problem, it’s a community failure. I know what that feels like, because I’ve lived it. As your Commissioner, I will:

  • Work to eliminate school meal debt and make healthy meals accessible to every child.
  • Expand partnerships with food banks, local farms, and community organizations to fight hunger across both rural and urban neighborhoods.
  • Strengthen public health programs that connect food access, nutrition, and wellness because good health starts with good food.

Educational Equity & Opportunity

Every child deserves a fair shot, no matter their ZIP code. Our schools must be centers of learning, safety, and possibility. Strong schools build strong communities. As your Commissioner, I will:

  • Push for equitable funding so every school has the resources and safe facilities students need.
  • Invest in afterschool and mentorship programs that give children the support they deserve.
  • Champion job training and career pathways that prepare young people for college, trades, or the workforce.

Economic Development & Good Jobs

A thriving Guilford means families are able to earn steady, fair wages, and businesses have room to grow. I bring 21 years of progressive HR experience and workforce development experience to this challenge. As your Commissioner, I will:

  • Work to expand support for small businesses and entrepreneurs through grants and partnerships.
  • Attract new industries that commit to hiring locally, paying fair wages, and investing in Guilford workers.
  • Build stronger training pipelines in partnership with community colleges and workforce programs.
  • Make jobs accessible to marginalized communities through innovation in training, transportation and other obstacles to full employment.

Justice, Equity & Community Investment

A county budget is a moral document. It shows what, and who, we value. Guilford must be a place where no one is without the support they need to thrive. As your Commissioner, I will:

  • Push to ensure that county resources are distributed fairly across rural, suburban, and urban areas.
  • Invest in affordable housing, healthcare, mental health and addiction recovery services that keep families strong.
  • Promote community safety rooted in trust and collaboration, not just punishment.
