Building Bridges

Born and raised in Guilford County, Toby builds community and creates change as a board member and leader for local non-profits, a minister, and a higher education leader in human resources.

Toby is a leader with Public School Strong, where she fights to ensure equitable, safe and fully-funded public schools. She serves on the board of A Simple Gesture, whose mission is to end hunger in Guilford County, and is a champion of School Meals for All NC, to make sure no child has to skip the lunch line at school.

Toby is an ordained minister in the United Church of Christ. She has two decades of experience in higher education, currently serving as a divisional human resources director at UNC-Chapel Hill. 

Toby lives with her husband and two sons in Whitsett, NC. She graduated from Dudley High School, and holds graduate degrees from Villanova University and the Chicago Theological Seminary.
